REVIEW: Bangerang Bake Shop

This review is for Bangerang Bake Shop (formerly Fat Daddy Bake Shop). Bangerang Bake Shop is the home for the original Cupcake in a Jar™ concept. I bought my first 3-pack of cupcakes in February 2008 and have been addicted ever since - which probably explains why I still haven't lost the last 15 pounds of my post-pregnancy weight! Nicole Mahler is the super nice (judging from the convos we have exchanged) genius behind this company and she is truly my cupcake hero.

Here are the reviews of the various flavors I have tried:

Plain Jane in a Party Dress - A vanilla bean cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. This one is my favorite! If you're like me you're probably thinking - How is a vanilla cake with vanilla frosting so special? The answer? Because you haven't had one from Bangerang Bake Shop! I am a huge vanilla lover and this is such a true, authentic pure vanilla cupcake that is moist, rich and super delicious.

Chocolate Chip off the 'ol Block - Brown sugar chocolate chip cake topped with vanilla buttercream frosting. I love chocolate chip cookies and a chocolate chip cupcake is even better! It reminds me of a chocolate chip cookie sandwich. This one is very sweet and rich. I was only able to eat less than a serving at a time but that just meant that it lasted longer.

The Classic Fat Daddy - Chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. I am not a huge fan of chocolate cake (or cupcakes) which is weird because I love anything else chocolate. That said, I actually liked this cupcake. It was not one of my favorites and probably not one I would order for myself, but if I received it as a gift I definitely wouldn't complain. I ordered it for my mom, but of course I had to try a bite. My mom LOVES chocolate cakes & cupcakes. She said this one of the best chocolate cupcakes she ever ate.

CooKoo for Coconut - Butter cake filled with coconut layered with cream cheese/buttercream frosting and topped with shredded coconut. I ordered this one for my dad because he is a huge fan of coconut cakes. He loved this cupcake! He still asks me when I'm going to order more for him. He ate this whole jar in one sitting. I tried a bite of it and WOW - it was very good! This did not have the artificial coconut taste that a lot of store-bought cake mixes have. This is a very real coconut taste and the whole cupcake was just amazing - moist and delicious. If you like coconuts - YOU WILL LOVE THIS CUPCAKE.

Each jar is enough for about 2 servings and is priced at $6.50. If you would like to purchase cupcakes from Bangerang Bake Shop, I recommend the 3-Packs & 4-Packs. I think it is the best value because of the shipping costs - plus, you get to choose more flavors to try out! These cupcakes are shipped Priority Mail (2-3 day shipping) immediately after they are baked and packaged to insure that you get your cupcakes while they are still fresh so the shipping costs are a little high - but I think it is totally worth it.
